On October 26, 1923, National Pictures placed advisement in The Victor Harbor Times and Encounter Bay and Lower Murray Pilot that they had come up with a name for their new theatre in Victor Harbor, it was to be called the Wonderview Theatre. Placed on Flinders Parade, it certainly had a wonderful view of the bay.

And on December 22, 1923, the Wonderview Theatre had its Gala Night, opened by the then Mayor of Victor Harbor, WF Connell Esq. Whilst the location opposite the sea would certainly deliver on the promised sea breezes, the location was also next to the railway station and that caused its own problems, with ' scarcely ruffled rumbles, hisses and screeches of steam locomotives shaking the whole building.' (Victor Harbor High Old Scholars, 1910-1940).
